Write to the Media

The more often people hear about single-payer health care, the more support it will get. When you see an article about health care in a newspaper, online publication, or blog, don’t hesitate to respond with a letter or comment mentioning single-payer and why you support it. (And don’t forget to link to it through your Facebook or Twitter account!)

See tips on writing letters to the editor and op eds here. Be sure to check the guidelines of the paper you’re writing to, usually found on their Opinion or Letters page. "Tips for Aspiring Op-Ed Writers" from the New York Times, 2017, here

Below are some examples of letters from Illinois single-payer activists. Note that letters can be either personal (the first) or general (the second). For other examples on our website, use the search term “letter to the editor.”

Be sure to let us know if your letter or op ed is published! Send us a link, or a copy of the letter, along with the name of the publication and the date it was published.
