1)      Roll Call

3)      Treasurer’s report

• Labor Outreach Committee ask for $1000 budget to advertise in Fox Valley Labor News

  • Initial budget of $500 approved

• Fundraiser membership drive

  • A budget was previously approved

    • Dollar amount unknown

  • $500 budget approved

• $750 donation to Healthcare-NOW!

  • Motion passes

• $85 to Disability Pride Parade

  • Motion passes

• $2,500 for contractor for M4A

  • Motion passes

• $105 to Al for DVD purchase and $250 fee for usage (re: healthcare stories)

  • Motion passes

4)      Report from committees

• People with Disabilities Committee

• Main thing is trying to fight Rauner’s home services overtime budget plan

• ADAPT has some action planned for Aug. 31st

  • To be held at campaign headquarters

  • Want turnout

    • Have included SEIU

    • Jobs with Justice

• Also focusing on push for long-term care provisions

  • Lacking from Bernie bill

• Membership Committee

• Continuing to gather signatures at various events

• Want to do that in September at farmers’ markets

  • May want to get new folks interested in getting involved involved with this

• Would like to have a list of other things we could engage people in e.g.:

  • Website work

    • People sharing stories

  • Marketing/fundraising

  • Promoting long-term care issues

• Web Site Committee

• New members bringing new skills

• Simplifying and streamlining donate and join pages

• Adapting side for mobile devices

• Accessibility for blind

• Looking for person proficient in Drupal

• Proposal to combine social media and website committees in one communications site

• Need to circle back with Judy and Phil

5)      Long-term care proposal for disability and single payer activists (Susan)

6)      Update on single payer study

• We have three chapters done!

• Posted all three in google docs

• One is a PDF

• Writing this as advocates of single payer

  • Not trying to be academically neutral

• Have authoritative sources for data

• Data is changing -- trying to keep up

• Basing most of data on comparison to other countries

  • Many people believe much of American literature is provincial

• Want to get this out ahead of 2020

• Feedback:

  • Summary page at beginning

  • Summary pages for chapters

  • More focus on Illinois

  • For help with design -- could get one year $250 non-profit InDesign license

    • This could also help with newsletter

  • Include some things on managed care and Medicaid in Illinois

7)      Fundraiser/membership/newsletter (Anna)

• Hoping to get newsletter out mid September -- still seems doable

  • Hope to focus as locally as possible

• Would like to develop new tagline

  • “Organizing for national guaranteed healthcare for all”

    • Motion approved to adopt this tagline

• Giudi developed one based off of DSA

10)   Chicago M4A Campaign (Jordan)

• Haven’t gotten many responses about continuing coalition

• Going to reach out to different groups and then reach out to general attendees

• Event in Elwood, IL on September 8th in support of warehouse workers
